Job Description: Telecommunicator (Emergency Services Dispatcher)

RiverCom Dispatchers Guild - Collective Bargaining Agreement 2017-2019 

Telecommunicator Testing and Application Process:

  1. Individuals who wish to apply for any current or future Telecommunicator positions must first sign-up and complete skills testing with Public Safety Testing (PST).  Individuals who successfully complete testing will be placed on a candidate list with PST. PST will provide RiverCom with notification of successful testers.

  2. RiverCom will notify selected candidates as to when they may submit an application packet to RiverCom for further consideration.

  3. Applicants who are selected to move forward will be contacted by RiverCom and invited to participate in an oral interview.  A sit-in/job shadow may also be scheduled with the candidate as part of the interview process.

  4. Successful interviewees may receive a Conditional Offer of Employment or may be placed on an Eligibility List for up to one year should positions become available.

  5. A background investigation process will begin upon acceptance of a Conditional Offer of Employment:

    1. Credit Check​

    2. Thorough background investigation conducted by law enforcement

    3. Polygraph Test

    4. Psychological testing

    5. Medical exam and Drug Screening
